Description |
Structure date 1830's. Built sometime around 1825-1830 by either Nathaniel Scales (1756-1824) or possibly by John Lesuer whose daughter, Lizzie LeSuer, married the son of Nathaniel Scales, James Madison Scales. Nathaniel left the Deep Springs property to James in his will. Lizzie died soon after they were married and the house stood vacant for some years. Purchased by John M. Lindsay, who owned The Mount plantation, in 1874 for his son, Confederate veteran Tammerlane B. Lindsay (1848-1928) and it stayed in the Lindsay family for several generations.
