Full Text	Maxwell Royal Chair Company was established about 1946. It was known for the use of high quality woods and fabrics. The company took pride in combining good design and careful craftsmanship to create elegant traditional furniture. Due to changes in management, the company had difficulty maintaining quality and began to fail. It was purchased in 1980 by Waters Furniture of Lenoir, North Carolina. The name Maxwell Royal Chair ceased to exist with the purchase. The purchasing company failed a few years later. There are a number of companies in the Hickory area that specialize in repairing quality furniture.
